Charleston Salt & Iron Revealed
One of the most exciting moments in bringing a book to life is when the advance copies are received. We are particularly pleased with Charleston Salt and Iron - from start to finish it is a rich experience of a book.I’d like to talk about the cover for a moment. We had so many good photographs to choose from. Throughout the editing process, we set aside those photographs with cover potential. A cover photo has to work hard - it is the single image that will represent the book’s content, it must work well with the title and typography, and it must draw the reader from across the room to walk over and pick up the book.We think our chosen cover photograph, Winter Facade by Sandy Dimke is exceptional in meeting those requirements. Sandy’s artistic photo work ranges from edgy quadtones of Cuba to impressionistic images of the Southern United States. She has a great eye for composition and often judges national photographic competitions.
